1. The purpose of this memorandum is to seek approval for the convening of the thirtieth session of the Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT), to take place from November 4 to 8, 2013. These dates were already provisionally announced for SCT/30. Given the workload before the Committee (see below), it is not certain that the session will occupy a whole week. However, depending on the outcome of the WO/GA and, in particular, in view of the possible convening of a diplomatic conference for the adoption of a design law treaty, part of that week could be used to hold a preparatory meeting for that conference.
