Sri Lanka has been selected as a pilot country under the Development Agenda, Recommendation 10, to extend assistance to set up a Start-up Academy.
Following the successful completion of a needs assessment and consultations with the authorities concerned in Sri Lanka in September 2009 and subsequent exchange of communications with the National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO), WIPO expected a formal announcement by the Government of Sri Lanka, launching the "Start-Up" national IP academy, by the end of 1st quarter of 2010.
It was a requirement under the project implementation plan.
