As a follow-up to the WIPO Technology Trends on Assistive Technology and based on the report findings, WIPO organized a session on emerging assistive technologies, inclusive design and accessibility features in mainstream products on April 27 during the ITU World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) with distinguished speakers from Google, Panasonic, the Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe (CLAIRE), the Swedish Disability Rights Federation.
Irene Kitsara (IP and Innovation Ecosystems Sector) and Rafael Ferraz Vazquez (Copyright Sector) from WIPO presented trends and the role of enabling technologies in the development of emerging assistive products based on the report’s findings; and the intersection of accessibility with copyright, presenting WIPO’s work in the field.
