Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)

Accession by the Republic of India

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Republic of India, on September 7, 1998, of its instrument of accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), done at Washington on June 19, 1970, amended on September 28, 1979, and modified on February 3, 1984.

The said instrument of accession contains the following declaration: "The Government of the Republic of India declares that pursuant to paragraph (5) of Article 64 of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) of 1970, it does not consider itself bound by the provisions of Article 59 of the said Treaty."

The said Treaty will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of India, on December 7, 1998.
