Vienna Agreement Establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks

Accession by the Republic of India

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify the deposit by the Government of the Republic of India, on June 7, 2019, of its instrument of accession to the Vienna Agreement Establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks, done at Vienna on June 12, 1973, as amended on October 1, 1985.

The said instrument of accession contained the following declarations:

- In accordance with Article 4(5) of the Vienna Agreement, the Republic of India does not undertake to include the numbers of all or some of the sections in official documents and publications relating to registrations and renewal of marks.

- In accordance with Article 16(2) of the Vienna Agreement, the Republic of India does not consider itself bound by the provisions of paragraph (1) of Article 16 relating to the settlement of any dispute before the International Court of Justice.

The said Agreement will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of India, on September 7, 2019.
