Content of the database

The WIPO collections and the collections of participating national and regional offices. A complete and up-to-date list of the collections and their respective coverage is available here: https://branddb.wipo.int/en/coverage

Records are automatically uploaded from the national, regional and international collections. If you have a trademark under the Madrid system, for example, it will be automatically uploaded to the Global Brand Database.

Regarding the acquisition of the Global Brand Database: it unfortunately not available for sale. Our agreements with the national offices participating in the Global Brand Database project preclude us from redistributing data. However, you can acquire the trademark under the Madrid system data.

Regarding the downloading of the Global Brand Database, our terms of use specifically disallow any kind of bulk or automatic downloading of data from our system. Please follow the terms of use link on the bottom of each page for full details.

As the database is a free-of-charge public service, in order to maintain quality of service for all, our terms of use specifically disallow automatic querying, and our terms of use also preclude automatic search and/or download of results.

For national collections, it depends on how often national offices communicate their updates with the WIPO.

For Madrid International Collection, it is updated daily.

The Global Brand Database team does not update manually the database: the updating process is done automatically using data provided by national offices; there might be therefore delays in the updating process.

Please be advised that the International Bureau of WIPO is not mandated to conduct searches for third parties.

Regarding your wish to find out whether your label is registered as a trademark, please note that

The international registrations of marks can be searched online at the Madrid Monitor. In addition, the WIPO Global Brand database allows searches across multiple national collections. Both resources are available online and free of charge and can be consulted at any time. A search through your national Intellectual Property Offices' databases is also recommended.

Using the Global Brand Database, you can search trademarks from the Madrid System as well as from the national/regional collections available. The Madrid Monitor is your gateway to the Madrid System, keeping you up to date on your trademark: you can follow the status of your international application or trademark registration, access detailed information on all trademarks registered through the Madrid System.
