The latest edition of the Madrid System Yearly Review is now online, providing you with facts and figures on the use of the Madrid System in 2023. This year’s special theme focuses on how holders of international trademark registrations have used the Madrid System’s subsequent designation option to expand the geographical scope of protection of their trademarks.

  • 886,255 international trademark registrations in force.

Did you know…

  • L’Oréal, France, remained the top filer – filing 199 international trademark applications in 2023 – for the third year in a row.
  • 23.8% of all international trademark applications filed in 2023 came from Asia – the biggest percentage point increase of all geographical regions in the past decade.

  • International trademark registration applicants from China designated the most Madrid System Members per application.
