WIPO engages with young Nigerian Creatives at the MSwitch Open House
July 9, 2024
It was a vibrant afternoon of fun, conversation and learning on intellectual property as the WIPO Nigeria Office engaged with members of the Abuja creative community at the MSwitch Open House on Friday June 28, 2024.
The Open House, organized by MSwitch Media, a media production company in Abuja, aimed to provide an opportunity for creatives to connect, learn and network. The June edition of the Open House was focused on raising the creatives’ awareness about intellectual property and giving an opportunity for discussions on ownership and artists’ rights.
The WIPO Nigeria Office, represented by Ms. Taiwo Farai as well as Ms. Juliana Oboh-Joseph, was present at the event to participate in the conversation and provide awareness to the creatives on intellectual property and about the work of WIPO.
The enthusiastic participants, which included young music artists, graphic designers, writers, videographers and talent managers, expressed excitement at what they described as a much-needed exposure to the world of IP as it relates to their work.
Nigeria enjoys an abundance of creativity, especially among its youth. As a result, youth engagement remains one of the priorities of the WIPO Nigeria Office.
