January 29, 2025
During the week of 27th – 29th November 2024 the Technology Transfer Section (TTS) of WIPO was delighted to participate in Thailand’s Innovation Policy Week in Bangkok. The event served as an exciting platform for leaders, educators, and major Thai companies to explore ways to collaborate with universities, drive innovation, address technical challenges, and promote technology transfer.

WIPO representatives engaged with prominent Thai universities, including Chulalongkorn University, NSTDA, Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, Mahidol University, and Prince of Songkhla University. Discussions centered on aligning their strategic intellectual property (IP) and technology transfer priorities with regional and global objectives.
A key highlight of the week was the inauguration of the Association of IP and Technology Transfer Professionals (AITP) as Thailand’s National Association. This milestone event included the unveiling of AITP’s 2025 Action Plan and an in-depth exploration of the next steps for the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP) within ASEAN.
During the roundtable discussions, WIPO shared insights from the WIPO-AUTM Knowledge Technology Transfer Leadership Summit 2024 alongside esteemed collaborators, including Prof. Fazilet Vardar Sukan, Ph.D., RTTP, Dr. Alwin Wong, RTTP, and Orakanoke Prakansa from NSTDA.

Topics included skill development for effective technology commercialization and innovative metrics to evaluate technology transfer performance.
WIPO extends heartfelt thanks to all organizers, speakers, and participants for making the week an enriching experience. These collaborative efforts promise to shape the future of innovation and technology transfer in ASEAN and beyond.
