Details Details Year of Version 2007 Dates Adopted: July 29, 1977 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Plant Variety Protection, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), IP Regulatory Body Notes This unofficial consolidated version of the Patents Act 1977, prepared by the Patents Legal Section of the Intellectual Property Office on January 1, 2010, includes all amendments up to January 1, 2010 (see Sections 102(2A), 102(5) and 102A for the amendments made by the Legal Services Act 2007).

Section 211 of the Legal Services Act provides for the commencement of the Act. Section 211 of this Act specifies that certain sections (sections 211, 208 (2) to (5), 212 and 214) in the Act will come into force on the day this Act is passed. The remaining sections will come into force on such day as the Lord Chancellor appoints by order.
