An Act to amend the Copyright Act.

ENACTED by the Parliament of Barbados as follows:

1. This Act may be cited as the Copyright (Amendment) Act, Short title.

2004.

2. Section 46 of the Copyright Act, in this Act referred to as the Amendment of

principal Act, is amended

section 46 of Cap. 300.

(a)
in subsection (4), by deleting
(i)
the words "$50()()() orlo imprisonment for 2 years" appearing in paragraph (a) and substituting the words "$100000 or to imprisonment for 5 years";
(ii)
the words "$250 000 or to imprisonment for 5 years" appearing in paragraph (b) and substituting the words "$500 000 or to imprisonment for 10 years";
(b)
in subsection (5), by deleting
(i)
the words "$25 000 or to imprisonment for I year" appearing in paragraph (a) and substituting the words "$50 000 or to imprisonment for 2 years";
(ii)
the words "$100 000 or to imprisonment for 3 years" appearing in paragraph (b) and substituting the words "$200 000 or to imprisonment for 5 years".

Amend� 3. Section 132 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (6), by

5. (a) Section 140 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (1), by deleting the words "$10 000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 1 year" and substituting the words "$20 000 or to imprisonment for 2 years"; Amendment of section l40 of Cap. 300.
(b) subsection (2), by deleting the words "$5 000 or to imprisonment for 6 months" and substituting the words "$10 000 or to imprisonment for I year.".
