Copyright (Marrakesh Treaty Implementation) Explanatory note Amendment Act 2019 Commencement Order 2019 2019/276

Michael Webster, Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect. This order brings the Copyright (Marrakesh Treaty Implementation) Amendment Act 2019 (the Act) into force on 4 January 2020. Section 2(2) of the Act specifies that the date the Act is brought into force must be the date on which the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Per- sons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled done at Marra- kesh on 27 June 2013 (the Treaty) enters into force for New Zealand. That date is 3 months after New Zealand has deposited its instrument of accession to the Treaty. New Zealand’s instrument of accession to the Treaty was deposited with the Director- General of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva on 4 October 2019. The Treaty will therefore enter into force for New Zealand on 4 January 2020.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012. Date of notification in Gazette: 21 November 2019. This order is administered by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment.
