The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of Jamaica, on September 28, 1993, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, with the declaration that the Government of Jamaica avails itself of the faculties provided for in Articles II and III of the Appendix to the said Convention.
Jamaica has not heretofore been a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
The Berne Convention, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, will enter into force, with respect to Jamaica, on January 1, 1994. On that date, Jamaica will become a member of the Berne Union.
