The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Independent State of Samoa, on April 21, 2006, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979 (Berne Convention), with the declaration that the Independent State of Samoa avails itself of the faculty provided for in Article II of the Appendix to the said Convention.
The Berne Convention will enter into force, with respect to the Independent State of Samoa, on July 21, 2006. On that date, the Independent State of Samoa will also become a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
