The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, on September 23, 1987, of its instrument of ratification of the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and at Geneva on May 13, 1977.
The said instrument of ratification contains the following declaration:
"The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics considers it necessary to declare that the provisions of Article 13 of the Agreement providing for a possibility of its application to colonies and dependent territories is in contradiction with Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations 1514 (XV) of December 14, 1960." The Geneva Act (1977) of the said Agreement will enter into force, with respect to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, three months after the ate of this notification, that is, on December 30, 1987.
