International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants
of December 2, 1961, as revised at Geneva on November 10, 1972, and on October 23, 1978

Application to Aruba

The Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, with reference to UPOV Notification No. 50, dated February 13, 1996, has the honor to inform His Excellency's Government that, within the period of six months after the date of the said notification, no objection was communicated to the Secretary-General of UPOV to the proposal of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands set forth in its Note No. gev/sa-5041/96, dated January 11, 1996, attached to the said notification, and that, consequently, on November 27, 1996, the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands deposited with the Secretary-General of UPOV a declaration that the Kingdom of the Netherlands in respect of Aruba ceases to be bound by the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants of December 2, 1961, as revised at Geneva on November 10, 1972, and on October 23, 1978, with retroactive effect to the date on which the said Convention became applicable to Aruba.
