WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty

Declaration by the Kingdom of Belgium

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to refer to the deposit by the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, on May 30, 2006, of its instrument of ratification of the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty, adopted at Geneva on December 20, 1996.

The Director General has the honor to notify that the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium has deposited, on August 10, 2006, the following declaration: "In accordance with Article 3(3) of the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT), the Kingdom of Belgium declares that it avails itself of the faculty provided in Article 5(3) of the International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations (Rome Convention 1961) in the sense that it will not apply the criterion of publication as a point of attachment".

At the request of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, the said declaration is considered as having accompanied its instrument of ratification of the WPPT and will enter into force, with respect to the Kingdom of Belgium, on August 30, 2006.
