Contracting Parties Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Türkiye

Dates Accession: November 2, 2017 Entry into force: February 2, 2018

Declarations, Reservations

The instrument of accession was accompanied by the following reservations:
1. "The Republic of Turkey reserves the right to interpret and apply paragraph 1 of Article 7 of the Convention in accordance with the related provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey and the Treaty of Lausanne of 24 July 1923 and its Appendixes."
2. Reservation in respect of Article 20:
"This Convention shall be interpreted and applied in a manner that is consistent with the rights and obligations of the Republic of Turkey under other treaties to which it is a party and it shall not prejudice the right of the Republic of Turkey to freely negotiate treaties".

The instrument of accession was accompanied by the following declarations:
1. "The Republic of Turkey declares that there does not exist any group of people in its territory which could be considered as "indigenous peoples" within the framework of the Convention."
2. "The Republic of Turkey declares, within the scope of paragraph 4 of Article 25 of the Convention, that it does not recognize the conciliation procedure provided for in paragraph 3 of Article 25 of the Convention."
