The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on April 3, 1985, of the notification of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland stating that the assurances furnished by that Government in respect of the National Collection of Animal Cell Cultures (NCACC), an institution having the status of an international depository authority under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977 (see Budapest Notification No. 40 of July 17, 1984), are extended to include the kinds of microorganisms specified in the notification of the said Government. The text of that notification is attached.
The said assurances shall become applicable to the kinds of microorganisms specified in the notification of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as from the date (May 31, 1985) of the publication in the May 1985 issue of Industrial Property/La Propriété industrielle of that notification.

Text of the Notification of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, dated April 1, 1985, stating an extension of the list of kinds of microorganisms accepted for deposit by the National Collection of Animal Cell Cultures (NCACC)
NOTIFICATION
Sir,
I have the honour to refer to the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Micro-organisms for the purposes of Patent Procedure, opened for signature at Budapest from 28 April to 31 December 1977. In accordance with Rule 3.3 of the Regulations under that Treaty, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hereby notify you that the assurances furnished in my Government's communication of 13 June 1984 that the National Collection of Animal Cell Cultures, currently holding the status of International Depository Authority, complies and will continue to comply with the requirements specified in Article 6(2) of the Treaty, are hereby extended to include viruses capable of assay in tissue culture to be held by the said Authority. A statement regarding their possible pathogenicity to man and/or animals is required at the time of deposit. Up to and including ACDP Category 3* can be accepted for deposit. The fees are as follows in regard to the items indicated:

| b) | Issuance of a viability statement in those cases in which, in accordance with Rule 10.2,a fee may be charged | £100 | |
| c) | Furnishing of a sample in accordance with Rule 11.2 or 11.3 | £80 |
The fees are payable to the Public Health Laboratory Service Board. Fees paid within the United Kingdom are subject to Value Added Tax at the current rate.
