PATENTS (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2002
IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 87 of the Patents Act 1983 [Act 291], the Minister makes the following regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. (1) These regulationsmay be cited as thePatents (Amendment) Regulations 2002.
(2) These Regulations is deemed to have come into operation on 1 July 2002.
Amendment of regulation 27
2. The Patents Regulations 1986 [P.U. (A) 327/1986], which in these Regulations are referred to as the “principal Regulations”, are amended in regulation 27—
(a) in paragraph (3)(c), by inserting after the word “application” the words “, and where the results of any searches or examinations are not in the English language, a certified translation in the English language of such search or examination”; and
(b) in subregulation (6), by inserting after the words “the Patent Office of Australia,” the words “the Patent Office of Japan,”.
Amendment of regulation 27A
3. Subregulation 27A(5) of the principal Regulations is amended in the definition of “prescribed country” by inserting after the words “Australia,” the words “Japan,”.
