The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments and has the honor to notify the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Namibia, on March 31, 2004, of its instrument of accession to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted at Madrid on June 27, 1989 ("Madrid Protocol (1989)").
The said instrument was accompanied by the following declaration:
- the declaration that, in accordance with Article 14(5) of the Madrid Protocol (1989), the protection resulting from any international registration effected under the said Protocol before the date of entry into force of the said Protocol with respect to the Republic of Namibia cannot be extended to it.
The Madrid Protocol (1989) will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Namibia, on June 30, 2004.
