WIPO Joins IP Offices in Joint Message Commemorating International Women’s Day 2024

March 8, 2024

WIPO is proud to join over 70 intellectual property (IP) offices and organizations worldwide in a joint message pledging support for women in creativity and innovation, and renewing commitment to empower women’s participation in the IP ecosystem.

In celebration of the 2024 International Women’s Day theme “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”, we are coming together to champion diversity within our offices and organizations and across the entire IP landscape recognizing that women face challenges and barriers in accessing resources, resulting in their stark underrepresentation in the IP ecosystem worldwide.

WIPO, along with a growing number of other IP offices and organizations, reaffirmed dedication to taking collective action and to empowering and supporting women and girls from all segments of society to fully engage in the innovation and creativity economy. Offices also pledged their support to invest in knowledge and skills-building initiatives designed to empower women in IP matters and to provide information, whenever possible, about financial resources available to support inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs.

More information about WIPO’s efforts to support women and IP can be found on our IP, Gender and Diversity webpage.
