IP VIPs Visit the WSO

The WIPO Singapore Office (WSO) had the pleasure of recently welcoming three IP VIPs during their respective missions to Singapore and the region.

WIPO Director General, Mr. Daren Tang, was in Singapore to undertake a range of high profile commitments. He signed an MoU with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and the Singapore Innovation and Productivity Institute, met with a range of ministers and high-level business leaders, presented the WIPO – IPOS Awards, delivered the keynote speech at the Global Forum on IP and launched WIPO’s Innovation Hotspots study.

Amongst all these commitments, he found time to spend a morning at the WSO. He spoke with all staff currently working in Singapore reinforcing his vision for WIPO, highlighting the importance of WIPO’s external office network and calling for ideas and suggestions on areas for possible enhancement.

The Deputy Director General, Mr. Hasan Kleib, also called in to the WIPO Singapore Office whilst he was in the “Lion City”. DDG Kleib also met with executive staff from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.

Mr. Erik Wilbers, Senior Director of WIPO’s Arbitration and Mediation Center, was in town to speak at the Singapore Convention Week 2022. The event featured a week long program of legal and dispute resolution-related events.  One of the highlights of the Week was the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Academy Workshops.
