Anyone can order certified documents for any active or expired Madrid System international trademark registration. Fees apply – in Swiss francs (CHF). Find out about payment methods.
Pro tip: You can find up-to-date information about any international trademark registration using “Find and Monitor” in eMadrid. You can also order certified documents for any international trademark registration through “Find and Monitor”.
Holders, representatives – and any team members they’ve shared “Editor” access rights with – can download international trademark registration and renewal certificates issued since 2010 directly from their eMadrid workbench, free of charge. They can also order certified copies (fee: 50 CHF).
- Log in to eMadrid with your WIPO Account
- Go to “Manage your trademarks” to access your workbench
- Open the relevant international trademark registration (“asset”) directly in your workbench
- Click the “Certified documents” tab
- Follow the prompts to complete your request.

Types of certified documents
Attestation
- Content: A document confirming specific details about an international trademark registration, such as status of protection in a particular Madrid System member
- Best for: Customs purposes, proving ownership or renewal status, and more
- Language: English, French or Spanish (document title, signature details and date can be in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish)
- Price: 77 CHF

Detailed extract
- Content: A document containing full details of an international trademark registration, including status of protection in all designated Madrid System members. The correct status will be shown even if Madrid Monitor displays it as "Complex”
- Best for: Court proceedings, proving acquisition of a mark, and more
- Language: English, French or Spanish (document title, signature details and date can be in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish)
- Price: 155 CHF (up to three pages) + 10 CHF per additional page

Simple extract
- Content: A compilation of copies of all notifications – such as refusals, invalidations or statements of grant of protection – sent by intellectual property (IP) Offices, and/or inscriptions in the International Register such as subsequent designations, renewals or other modifications
- Best for: Trademark holders and representatives (current or new) who need a historical record of an international trademark registration
- Languages: Documents are provided in the original language (English, French or Spanish). Cover pages can be requested in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish
- Price: 77 CHF (up to three pages) + 2 CHF per additional page

- Search by international trademark registration number or holder name
- Click the relevant registration to access full details
- Select the “Certified documents” tab
- Follow the prompts to complete your request.
Document legalization
Authorities in non-Madrid System members may ask for legalization of attestations and simple or detailed extracts. (Madrid System members will not request legalization.)
We can arrange this for you.
Fees
- 75 CHF, plus
- 30 CHF, for legalization by the Geneva State Chancellery
- 30-1,000 CHF for legalization by an Embassy / Consulate
