On November 22nd, WIPO Japan Office organized an international symposium on Energy — for the sustainable society.
This symposium focused on the role of intellectual property in realizing the sustainable society. A total of 652 people from 84 countries registered to participate.
This event was financed by the Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global.
Eight years have passed since the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. Now that we have passed the halfway mark to our goal of 2030, the energy market is attracting more attention.
This symposium focused on the energy market, with presentations and discussions about business utilization of IP in the energy market, the potential of hydrogen energy, investment in environmental technology, and management strategy that takes a bird's-eye view of IP strategy.
The event was moderated by the "Eco-Announcer" who supports economy for ecology and a sustainable society and the speakers included Sagentia Innovation, a global advisor for research and development and innovation, as well as Vice president of Kyushu University, known as an authority on hydrogen energy, an environmental technology investor selected as one of Israel's “Forbes 30Under30'' and a dialogue with Executive officer of Daikin Industries, Ltd., which is at the forefront of corporate strategy overlooking IP strategy. Lectures were also given by WIPO/United Nations SDGs Special Advisor and an Associate Programme Officer of WIPO GREEN.
