The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in accordance with the provisions of the above international instrument adopted at Stockholm, has the honor to notify him that the, Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics deposited, on April 8, 1971, its instrument of accession, dated March 15, 1971, to the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, with the following declaration:
"While acceding to the Nice Agreement the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics considers it necessary to declare that the provisions of Article 14 of the Agreement providing for a possibility of its application to colonies and dependent territories is in contradiction with Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations 1514 (XV) of December 14, 1960." (Translation)
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 9(4)(b), the Stockholm Act of the said Agreement will enter into force, with respect to the Union of Soviet Republics, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on July 26, 1971.
