The Constitution of Malaysia, which is the supreme law of Malaysia, was enacted on September 16, 1963. Since then, the Constitution has been amended many times, most recently in 2009.
The Constitution contains provisions on intellectual property.
In the Legislative Lists (List I-Federal List) of the Ninth Schedule, the Constitution gives the federal government the power to enact laws relating to patents, designs, inventions, trade marks and mercantile marks, copyrights (Section 8 (e)).
