Details Details Year of Version 2013 Dates Entry into force: July 25, 2012 Adopted: July 9, 2012 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Trademarks, IP Regulatory Body Notes Office Order No. 163, issued by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) pursuant to the accession of the Philippines to the Madrid Protocol and the Office Order No. 128, Series of 2003, relating to 'Restructuring the Fee Structure of the Intellectual Property Law of the Philippines', promulgates the fees for international applications and registrations under the Madrid Protocol and other related transactions. This Office Order takes effect on July 25, 2012 after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

Madrid Protocol Fees

Whereas, as part of the continuing improvements to the trademark system in the Philippines and the thrust of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to deliver timely and quality services to trademark owners, the Republic of the Philippines acceded to the Madrid Protocol and subsequently deposited its instrument of accession with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 25 April 2012;

Whereas, the Madrid Protocol will enter into force in the Philippines on 25 July 2012;

Whereas, as part of the implementation of the Madrid Protocol in the Philippines , the IPOPHL needs to promulgate the fees for Madrid-related transactions;

Whereas, the IPOPHL has an existing fee structure under Office Order No. 128, s. 2003 which is the basis of the fees to be collected for all Madrid transactions;

Now, therefore, pursuant to the accession of the Philippines to the Madrid Protocol and Office Order No. 128, s. 2003, the following fees shall be charged for international applications and registrations under the Madrid Protocol and other related transact ions.
