The Registered Designs (Amendment) Rules 2014

Coming into force - - 1st October 2014

The Secretary of State makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 of the Registered Designs Act 1949(1).

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Registered Designs (Amendment) Rules 2014 and come into force on 1st October 2014.

Amendment to the Registered Designs Rules 2006

2. The Registered Designs Rules 2006(2) are amended as follows.

3. After rule 2 insert—

Directions of the registrar

2A. Any directions given by the registrar under sections 31A or 39 must be published on such website as the registrar considers to be likely to bring them to the attention of those persons likely to be affected by them.”.

(2) S.I. 2006/1975 to which there are amendments not relevant to these Rules.

These Rules amend the Registered Designs Rules 2006 (S.I. 2006/1975) to provide that any directions which the registrar may issue requiring the use of forms under section 31A of the Registered Designs Act 1949 or specifying the hours of business of the Intellectual Property Office and excluded days under section 39 of that Act must be published on such website as the registrar considers to be likely to bring them to the attention of those persons likely to be affected by those directions.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has a negligible effect on business.
