Whereas a draft ofthis Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section l ofthe European Communities Act 1972(a) ("the Act") and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise ofthe powers conferred on Her by section 1(3) ofthe Act or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice ofHer Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
l. This Order may be cited as the European Communities (Definition ofTreaties) (Database Protection Agreement between the United Kingdom on behalf of the Isle of Man and the European Community) Order 2003. It shall come into force, in respect ofthe treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order, on the lst November 2003, the date on which the treaty enters into force.
2. The treaty specified in the Schedule to this Order is to be regarded as a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) ofthe Acl.

SCHEDULE
Agreement in the fOnTI of an exehange of letters between the United Kingdorn of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on behalfofthe Isle of'Man and the European Community extending to the Isle of Man the legai proteetion of databases as provided for in Chapter III of Directive 96/9/EC(a), signed al Brussels on 26th March 2003(b).
