The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, on April 18, 1991, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971.
The Republic of Guinea-Bissau has not heretofore been a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
The Berne Convention, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on October 2, 1979, will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on July 22, 1991. On that date, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau will become a member of the Berne Union.
The Republic of Guinea-Bissau will belong to Class S for the purpose of establishing its contribution towards the budget of the Berne Union.
