The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on June 10, 1993, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria has not heretofore been a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
The Berne Convention, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, will enter into force, with respect to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on September 14, 1993. On that date, the Federal Republic of Nigeria will become a member of the Berne Union.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria will belong to Class VII for the purpose of establishing its contribution towards the budget of the Berne Union.
