The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Guyana, on July 25, 1994, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979.
The Republic of Guyana has not heretofore been a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
The Berne Convention, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Guyana, on October 25, 1994. On that date, the Republic of Guyana will become a member of the Berne Union.
The Republic of Guyana belongs to Class Sbis for the purpose of establishing its contribution to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
