The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the State of Bahrain, on November 29, 1996, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, with the declaration that the State of Bahrain avails itself of the faculties provided for in Articles II and III of the Appendix to the said Convention.
The Berne Convention as revised will enter into force, with respect to the State of Bahrain, on March 2, 1997. On that date, the State of Bahrain will also become a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
