Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works

Ratification by Ireland of the Stockholm Act (with the exception of Articles 1 to 21 and of the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries)

The Director of the United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (BIRPI) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and in accordance with the provisions of the Stockholm Act of the above Convention, has the honor to notify him that the Government of Ireland deposited on September 17, 1970, its instrument of ratification dated September 8, 1970, of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, with the declaration provided for in Article 28(1)(b)(i) of the said Act to the effect that the ratification does not apply to Articles 1 to 21 nor to the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries.

Pursuant to the provisions of Article 28(2)(c) of the Stockholm Act of the said Convention, Articles 22 to 38 will enter into force, with respect to Ireland, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on December 21, 1970.

A separate notification will be made of the entry into force of the other provisions of the Stockholm Act of the said Convention, when the required number of ratifications or accessions is reached.
