The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in accordance with the provisions of the Stockholm Act of the above Convention, has the honor to notify him that the Government of Fiji deposited on December 11, 1971, its instrument of accession dated December 1, 1971, to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, with the declaration provided for in Article 28(1)(b)(i) of the said Act to the effect that this accession shall not apply to Articles 1 to 21 and to the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries.
Fiji indicated that, for the purposes of Article 25(4)(b) of the Convention, it wished to belong to Class VII.
By letter also dated December 1, 1971, the Government of Fiji deposited with the Government of the Swiss Confederation a declaration of continued application of the Brussels Act of the Berne Convention. This declaration will be notified by the Government of the Swiss Confederation.
Consequently, Fiji remains bound by Articles 1 to 20 of the Brussels Act and, in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 of the Stockholm Act, will, three months after the date of this notification, that is, as from March 15, 1972, be bound by Articles 22 to 38 of the Stockholm Act.
