The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify the deposit by the Government of the Independent State of Samoa, on October 2, 2019, of its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement), adopted at Geneva on May 20, 2015.
The said instrument contained the following declarations:
- in accordance with Article 7(4) of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement, the Independent State of Samoa wants to receive an individual fee to cover its cost of substantive examination of each international registration; and
- in accordance with Article 7(4) of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement, the Independent State of Samoa requires an administrative fee relating to the use by the beneficiaries of the appellation of origin or the geographical indication in the Independent State of Samoa.
The date of entry into force of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement will be notified when the required number of ratifications or accessions is reached in accordance with Article 29 of the said Treaty.
