The Director of the United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (BIRPI) presents his compliments of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and, in accordance with the provisions of the above international instrument adopted at Stockholm, has the honor to notify him that the Government of the German Democratic Republic, referring to Article 14(1)(iii), deposited, on June 20, 1968, its instrument of accession dated May 20, 1968, to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, of April 14, 1891, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967.
This notification does not mean that the Director of BIRPI has adopted any position on the question of whether the German Democratic Republic is or is not a party to the said Agreement. The Governments of the countries party to the said Agreement are in disagreement on this question.
