WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty

Declaration by the People's Republic of China

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to refer to the deposit, on March 9, 2007, by the Government of the People's Republic of China of its instrument of accession to the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty, adopted at Geneva on December 20, 1996 (see WPPT Notification No. 66).

The Director General of WIPO has the honor to notify the deposit, on August 6, 2013, by the Government of the People's Republic of China of the following declarations:

- "In accordance with the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, the Government of the People's Republic of China decides that the Treaty shall apply to the Macao Special Administrative Region;

- "The Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China shall not be bound by Article 15(1) of the Treaty with regard to the right of producers of phonograms.

- "With respect to the right of performers stipulated in Article 15(1) of the Treaty, relevant laws of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China shall apply".

The said declarations will enter into force, with respect to Macao, China, on November 6, 2013.
