The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, on April 14, 2004, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Berne Convention) of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979.
The Berne Convention as revised will enter into force, with respect to the United Arab Emirates, on July 14, 2004. On that date, the United Arab Emirates will also become a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
