The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify that the termination of the London Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs of November 6, 1925, as revised at London on June 2, 1934, and of the Additional Act of Monaco of November 18, 1961, to the said Agreement, will become effective,
on October 18, 2016,
that is, three months after the deposit of the last required instrument of acceptance of the termination of the London Act.
In this connection, it is recalled that instruments of acceptance of termination or instruments of denunciation of the London Act were deposited:
- on June 3, 2009, by the Republic of Indonesia
- on November 19, 2009, by the Swiss Confederation
- on December 13, 2010, by the Kingdom of the Netherlands
- on August 16, 2010, by the Federal Republic of Germany
- on September 20, 2010, by the French Republic
- on December 13, 2010, by the Principality of Liechtenstein
- on March 9, 2011, the Principality of Monaco
- on June 10, 2011, by the Republic of Tunisia
- on September 18, 2012, by the Kingdom of Spain
- on December 4, 2012, by the Kingdom of Morocco
- on August 21, 2013, by the Republic of Senegal
- on September 19, 2013, by the Republic of Benin
- on October 27, 2015, by the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire
- on March 21, 2016, by the Republic of Suriname
- on July 18, 2016, by the Arab Republic of Egypt.
It is to be noted that the denunciation of the said Act by the Republic of Indonesia, the Swiss Confederation, as well as the Kingdom of the Netherlands took effect, on June 3, 2010, November 19, 2010, and December 13, 2011, respectively.
Consequently, in accordance with the decision taken by the 15 Contracting Parties to the London (1934) Act at their Extraordinary Meeting, on September 24, 2009, and pursuant to Article 54(b) of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties of May 23, 1969, the termination of the London Act and of the Additional Act of Monaco will become effective, on October 18, 2016, with respect to the other States in the list above.
