The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify that the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled, will enter into force on
September 30, 2016,
that is, three months after the deposit by the twentieth State of its instrument of ratification or accession.
In this connection, it is recalled that instruments of ratification or accession of the said Treaty were deposited:
- on June 24, 2014, by the Republic of India
- on October 1, 2014, by the Republic of El Salvador
- on October 15, 2014, by the United Arab Emirates
- on December 1, 2014, by the Eastern Republic of Uruguay
- on December 16, 2014, by the Republic of Mali
- on January 20, 2015, by the Republic of Paraguay
- on March 30, 2015, by the Republic of Singapore
- on April 1, 2015, by the Argentine Republic
- on July 29, 2015, by the United Mexican States
- on September 23, 2015 by Mongolia
- on October 8, 2015, by the Republic of Korea
- on December 10, 2015, by Australia
- on December 11, 2015, by the Federative Republic of Brazil
- on February 2, 2016, by the Republic of Peru
- on February 19, 2016 by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
- on March 21, 2016, by the State of Israel
- on May 10, 2016, by the Republic of Chile
- on June 29, 2016, by the Republic of Ecuador
- on June 29, 2016, by the Republic of Guatemala
- on June 30, 2016, by Canada.
Consequently, in accordance with the provision of Article 18 of the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled, the said Treaty will enter into force on September 30, 2016, with respect to the twenty States referred to above.
