The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, on February 4, 1999, of its instrument of accession to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971, and amended on September 28, 1979, with the declaration that the People's Republic of Bangladesh avails itself of the faculties provided for in Articles II and III of the Appendix to the said Convention.
The Berne Convention as revised will enter into force, with respect to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, on May 4, 1999. On that date, the People's Republic of Bangladesh will also become a member of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works ("Berne Union"), founded by the Berne Convention.
