The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on March 15, 2001, of a written communication from the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, dated March 9, 2001, regarding the new schedule of fees of the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BCCMTM), an international depositary authority under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, amended on September 26, 1980 (see Budapest Notification No. 104 of February 12, 1992). The text of that communication is attached.
The fees set forth in the said communication will apply as from the thirtieth day following the date (March 31, 2001) of the publication of the said fees in the March 2001 issue of the WIPO periodical Intellectual Property Laws and Treaties, that is, as from April 30, 2001 (see Rule 12.2(c) of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty). The said fees will replace the fees published in the WIPO periodical Industrial Property/La Propriété industrielle of July/August 1993 (see Budapest Notification No. 117 of July 30, 1993).

On behalf of the Belgian Government, and pursuant to Rule 12.2 under the Regulations of the Budapest Treaty, I have the honor to inform you of changes in the fees charged by the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BCCMTM).
This change is described in the attached letter signed by the Belgian Minister of Scientific Research.

3. For genetic material (for example plasmids, oncogenes and RNA)
For genetic material, the schedule of fees for bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi is applicable (see paragraph 1, above). When genetic material requires storage in liquid nitrogen, the schedule of fees for human and animal cells is applicable (see paragraph 2, above).
Fees do not include the cost of transport.
The prices are expressed in Euros and in Belgian francs. As from January 1, 2002, only the amount expressed in Euros will be applicable.
