Videos and other audio-visual assets are a great way to:

  • Boost engagement in the World Intellectual Property Day campaign.
  • Get target audiences thinking and talking about the campaign theme – Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity.
  • Spread news of the campaign to their friends.

Videos are one of the many valuable communications tools. Where appropriate, they can be a great way to:

  • Capture expressions of support (especially among thought leaders and other high-profile personalities for the campaign);
  • Demonstrate that intellectual property is a powerful tool for women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs in all parts of the world to create economic value and advance their goals;
  • Show how women in your area are using their curiosity, energy and creativity and IP rights to find new and better solutions for a better future.
  • Employ a medium already familiar to young people across the globe, many of whom are highly skilled in video creation for their own social media presences.

Producing a compelling video can be a relatively straightforward and low-cost task. But to be effective, it needs to be shot in a way that is engaging and fresh. Some tips include:

  • Film in a style appropriate to the platform where the video will be posted - different social media platforms use landscape (16:9) formats, while others take vertical videos.
  • Shoot steady video;
  • Avoid unnecessary zooms and pans;
  • Ensure proper lighting;
  • Plan your interview;
  • Capture good sound;
