The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Sri Lanka, on June 20, 1978, of its instrument of ratification of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24 1971, with a declaration to the effect that its ratification shall not apply to Articles 1 to 21 and the Appendix.
The Republic of Sri Lanka will belong to Class VII for the purpose of establishing its contribution towards the budget of the Berne Union.
The Paris Act (1971) of the said Convention, with the exception of Articles 1 to 21 and the Appendix, will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Sri Lanka, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on September 23, 1978.
