The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of the People's Republic of China, on March 9, 2007, of its instrument of accession to the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty, adopted at Geneva on December 20, 1996.
The said instrument of accession contains the following declarations:
"The People's Republic of China does not consider itself bound by Paragraph 1 of Article 15 of the Treaty.
"In accordance with the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, the Government of the People's Republic of China has decided that, unless otherwise notified, the Treaty shall not apply to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China."
The said Treaty will enter into force, with respect to the People's Republic of China, on June 9, 2007.
