The Minister makes the following Regulations pursuant to section 91(3) and (4) and section 310 of the Customs Act 2014:

1 Citation

These Regulations may be cited as the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 2016.

2 Commencement

These Regulations commence on the day in which they are published in the Gazette.

3 Interpretation

In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears, words and expressions defined in the Act have the same meaning in these Regulations;

4 Prohibition on the importation of prohibited products

(1)A person must not import into Nauru directly from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong, any of the prohibited products made in the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong listed in the Schedule.

(2)Despite sub regulation (1), the prohibited products listed in the Schedule may be imported into Nauru directly from Australia and New Zealand.

(3)A person who breaches this regulation, is guilty of an offence and is liable to a penalty under regulation 5.
