The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the deposit by the Government of Cyprus, on April 22, 1983, of its instrument of ratification of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971.
The said instrument of ratification contains the declaration that the Government of the Republic of Cyprus intends to substitute, in accordance with Article V(1)(a)(ii) of the Appendix, for Article 8 of the said Berne Convention as revised, concerning the right of translation, the provisions of Article 5 of the Berne Convention of September 9, 1886, as completed at Paris on May 4, 1896.
The Republic of Cyprus will belong to Class VII for the purpose of establishing its contribution towards the budget of the Berne Union.
The Paris Act (1971) of the said Convention will enter into force, with respect to the Republic of Cyprus, three months after the date of this notification, that is, on July 27, 1983.
