The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on February 8, 1996, of a written notification, dated February 1, 1996, from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, regarding a new schedule of fees charged by the National Collection of Type Cultures (NCTC), an international depositary authority under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, as amended on September 26, 1980 (see Budapest Notification No. 26 of June 29, 1982). The text of that notification is attached.
The fees set forth in the said notification will apply as from the thirtieth day following the date March 31, 1996, of the publication of the said fees in the March 1996 issue of Industrial Property and Copyright/La Propriété industrielle et le Droit d'auteur, that is, as from April 30, 1996 (see Rule 12.2(c) of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty). The said fees will replace the fees as published in the July-August 1982 issue of Industrial Property/La Propriété industrielle (see Budapest Notification No. 26 of June 29, 1982).

Text of the Notification of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, dated February 1, 1996, relating to a change in the fees charged by the National Collection of Type Cultures (NCTC)
NOTIFICATION
I have the honor to refer to the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, opened for signature at Budapest from 28 April to 31 December 1977 and to the communication dated 31 March 1982 from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland nominating the National Collection of Type Cultures as an International Depositary Authority.
In accordance with Rule 12.2 of the Regulations under the Treaty, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hereby notify you that the fees charged by the National Collection of Type Cultures will be as follows, from the earliest date:
(a) | Storage of microorganisms | £ 450 per strain | |
(b) | Issuance of a viability statement | £ 60 per statement | |
(c) | Furnishing a sample under Rule 11.2 and 11.3 | £ 45 per ampoule (plus carriage) | |
(d) | 30-year Declaration for already deposited collection strains | £ 50 per declaration |
Item (a) refers to Hazard Group 2 (fees for Hazard Group 3 increase by 50%). For items (c) and (d) the fees are subject to Value Added Tax at the current rate where appropriate.
